Fortune Barishal, the defending Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) champions, have asked the BPL governing council to reschedule the upcoming tournament. The league is set to start in mid-December with only five teams. The Bangladesh Cricket Board invited bids for franchise ownership rights. Barishal's owner, Mizanur Rahman, says it's difficult to prepare in such a short time. He suggests moving the tournament to April or May. Rahman also believes their captain, Tamim Iqbal, will play if Barishal participates, despite Tamim's recent boycott announcement. Teams can prepare by starting player recruitment and fundraising early. (Updated 13 Oct 2025, 12:33 IST; source: link)
