Tablets will be given to about 75000 first year students of various undergraduate courses in Jammu and Kashmir, besides 2000 school students from different scheduled tribe communities. This announcement was made by the Union Minister of State for Education, Subhash Sarkar while concluding his five-day visit to Kashmir on Sunday. The minister had also visited various education institutes and had detailed discussions with officials and stakeholders during his visit. Talking to the media, he said that the purpose of his visit on the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to understand the ground reality of education infrastructure in the Union Territory.

Subhash Sarkar said that 75000 tablets will be distributed among all the first year students of undergraduate courses by the Higher Educational Department. Similarly, 2 000 tablets will be distributed among the students of tribal communities by the School Education Department. The Minister expressed satisfaction over the way things are going and said that the Education Department will take steps to improve its performance and up-gradation in future. Will work in mission mode.
Vocational courses will start soon in the colleges of the area
He also said that skill development would be introduced as a subject and vocational courses would also be started in all the colleges of the region in the near future. He said that this will help the students to find employment after completing their studies. Talking about the upgradation of facilities in government schools, Subhash Sarkar said that 2000 kindergarten classes have been established in government schools of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that it will help in bridging the gap between government and private schools when it comes to pre-primary education and childhood care, MoS also talked about the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Vishesh Scholarship Scheme and appealed to all eligible candidates. He also appealed to come forward and take advantage of this scheme.
