The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has announced the opening of junior and primary classes in a phased manner in a meeting held on Wednesday. Schools from class 1 to 8 will resume from 1 November 2021. Earlier, schools were scheduled to resume classes 6 to 8 from the second week of September, but due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the DDMA deferred the decision till September 30.

Schools from 9th to 12th have already opened in Delhi

At present, schools and coaching centers are open for classes 9 to 12 in the national capital. However, parental consent is mandatory for these students to attend the class. Apart from this, online learning has also been continued for those students. Those whose parents have not allowed them to attend physical classes due to the fear of COVID-19.

Lt Governor and CM also attended the meeting

Lt Governor Anil Baijal, CM Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Health Minister Satyendar Jain, NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul, AIIMS Director Randeep Guleria, Revenue Minister Kailash Gehlot and senior officials of the Delhi government were present in the meeting held today.

Durga Puja and Dussehra celebrations allowed

Along with this, DDMA has given permission for Durga Puja and Dussehra celebrations in Delhi. However, the government has laid down several protocols, such as limited crowding in places, 110 per cent mask compliance, no eateries, no melas and separate entry-exit points etc.
