JMI Alumna To Represent India At UN Internet Governance Forum Poland

JMI Student: Purnima Tiwari, an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia University’s Center for Culture, Media and Governance, will represent the country as the Youth Ambassador for the United Nations Governance Forum, 2021. The 16th Annual UN Internet Governance Forum meeting, chaired by the Government of Poland, will be held in Katowice from 6 to 10 December with the theme – Internet Unite.

Poornima Tiwari is one of the 30 ambassadors who have been selected from applicants from 193 countries. They will get a chance to participate in a global-level discussion on the topic ‘Internet Governance’. Purnima holds an MA degree in Media Governance, recognized by the Center for Culture, Media and Governance, UGC and Research Council (Arts, and Humanities Research Mapping, India) UK.

Purnima says that her parent organization, Jamia, has been instrumental in shaping her views on public policy in general and media policy and governance in particular. He said that the credit for this goes to the Center for Culture Media and Governance Jamia Millia Islamia.

Poornima is currently a part of MIT Media Lab’s course AI-Generated Media. Poornima, along with 88 other researchers, surpassed over 78% of applicants from around the world to make their way into this prestigious global program on scholarship.
