UGC Gives 4 Scholarships To College Students, Know Here Eligibility, Amount And Other Details

The University Grants Commission (UGC) offers 4 scholarship schemes to college and university students. These scholarship schemes include Ishan Uday Special Scholarship (UGC Ishan Uday or UGC NER) for North Eastern Region, PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship (UGC Single Girl Child Scholarship) for Single Girl Child, PG Scholarship for University Rank holders and pursuing professional courses. PG Scholarship for SC, ST students. Applications for these scholarships can be submitted on the National Scholarship Portal scholarships.gov.in.

1-UGC Ishaan Uday Scholarship
Ishan Uday Scholarship is a special scholarship scheme for the students of North East Region (NIR) of India. UGC started its distribution from 2014-15 academic year. Now, the applications are hosted on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). UGC Ishan Uday Scholarship aims at providing equal opportunities for higher education to the students of North East, increasing the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) and professional education in the region Have to focus more.

2-PG for Single Girl Child Indira Gandhi Scholarship
The PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child was initiated by the UGC to recognize the value of adhering to the norms of small family and support the education of single girl child in postgraduate courses. Without brothers or twin daughters or feternal daughters can apply for this scholarship scheme.
Scholarship number of -3,000
Scholarship amount- 36,200 per annum (for two years, which is the entire duration of a PG course).

3-UGC for University Rank Holders Scholarship
PG Scholarship for University Rank Holders is for those students studying in postgraduate courses who have had ‘outstanding performance’ at the undergraduate level. However, professional and distance learning programs are not covered under this scheme. First and second rank holders of a university who have taken admission in regular full time master’s degree course in a recognized university, deemed university, private university, autonomous college or postgraduate college If taken they can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship amount– Rs 3100 per month (for two years, which is the duration of a PG course).

4-postgraduate SC-ST Scholarship Scheme
The objective of UGC’s PG Scholarship Scheme for SC, ST Students for Professional Courses is to provide financial help to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates for pursuing higher studies in professional courses. Candidates who have taken admission in MA, MSc, MCom, MSW and Mass Communication and Journalism programs are not eligible for this scholarship. These courses are considered as non-professional courses.
