A virtual school has also been launched for the National Institute of Open Schooling. On Tuesday, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the ‘Virtual School’ of NIOS. The objective of the virtual school is to teach and train students of classes 9th to 12th through an advanced digital learning platform. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also launched several other initiatives during an event organized to mark the one year anniversary of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. During this, the Education Minister also launched a booklet of NCERT and an alternate academic calendar 2021-22.
It is worth noting that the Virtual School is the first school in India to focus on teaching and learning patterns through non-traditional approaches such as Virtual Live Classrooms and Virtual Labs.

Tweeting about the NIOS initiative, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, “Be it e-resources, or virtual school teachers, to enable 7.5 crore students in the age group of 3-9 years to be proficient in reading, writing and arithmetic. Started in the direction of reducing the gap between the learner. Ensuring the bright future of the learner and the students, all this is the goal of the Modi government and it shows the commitment towards education.
Divyang students will be helped by virtual schooling
The Virtual Schooling Initiative of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will provide opportunities to differently-abled students and they will be able to attend classes equally. The examination will also be conducted through artificial intelligence based remote proctored arrangements under the virtual school. Significantly, the virtual school of NIOS will have a digital approach towards traditional education and students will be taught concepts like cyber security and such training will be conducted along with regular school education. These schools will focus on Labs and will train the students through a practical approach.
