Puducherry School Reopening update: Puducherry government has announced that it is going to reopen schools and colleges from September 1. Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy has announced that schools will reopen for classes 9 to 12. This decision has been taken in view of the continuous decline in Kovid-19 cases. The Chief Minister said during a press conference that schools and colleges would be opened with 50 percent capacity. Along with this, he said that it will be mandatory for both the teaching and non-teaching staff to get vaccinated before the reopening of schools. In the case of colleges, along with the staff members, the students will also be required to be vaccinated. However, the CM also said that 90 percent of the teachers in the state have been vaccinated.
Home and Education Minister informed about the opening of school-college on social media
While Puducherry Home and Education Minister A. Namasivayam informed about the CM’s decision to reopen schools and colleges through social media. He wrote on Twitter: “Officially announced by Chief Minister and Education Minister A Namasivayam and officials of the Education Department that schools and colleges will open from 1st September and will run in rotation.”
Students will come to school on different days of the week
While the Puducherry government has not issued any Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) yet, the government said that schools will be reopened in a phased manner and different batches of students will come to the school on different days of the week. Students of class 9th and 10th will come to school on Monday and students of classes 11th and 12th will appear for classes in the school on Tuesday.

Schools and colleges are required to strictly follow the COVID-19 protocols such as wearing of masks, use of hand sanitizers and maintaining social distancing inside the campus.
Let us inform that earlier, the government of the Union Territory had decided to reopen the schools for classes 9 to 12 from July, but it was postponed and now the government has finally decided to start physical classes from September 1. At present, there are 796 active cases of Kovid-19 in the Union Territory. Along with this, 7 lakh 95 thousand 760 people have been vaccinated.
