Ranchi, September 25, 2025: Sarala Birla University (SBU), Ranchi is set to host Eastern India’s first Center of Excellence for Immersive Nursing Experience in collaboration with MediSim VR, bringing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR) into healthcare education. The initiative aims to transform nursing training and prepare globally competitive healthcare professionals.

The announcement follows a seminar by MediSim VR at the university, where faculty, students, and leadership experienced simulation-based training tools first-hand. The MoU to establish the Centre will be signed shortly, marking a regional first in tech-driven medical education.

According to the university, the Center of Excellence at SBU will equip nursing students with AI-VR simulations that improve clinical decision-making, enhance competence, and allow safe interactions with virtual patients. The initiative is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates for frontier technologies in higher education.

Prof. (Dr.) Jeganathan Chockalingam, Vice Chancellor of SBU, said the partnership reflects NEP 2020’s vision and puts students “at the forefront of healthcare innovation.” He added, “By embracing AI and VR with MediSim VR’s expertise, we are shaping the future of healthcare for a developed India.”

MediSim VR’s CEO, Sabarish Chandrasekaran, called it a “national milestone,” adding that the model will be scaled across India to close skill gaps in healthcare training and strengthen the country’s workforce.

The new Center of Excellence at Sarala Birla University is expected to act as a replicable model, positioning India as a global leader in technology-driven nursing and healthcare education.
