Filmmaker Anil Sharma has shared that his planned sequel Apne 2 will remain an incomplete story following the death of legendary actor Dharmendra on Monday morning at his Mumbai residence. The veteran star was 89 years old. The original film Apne, released in 2007, marked the first time Dharmendra appeared on screen with his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Sharma had been developing the sequel for years, announcing it in 2020, with plans to include Dharmendra's grandson Karan Deol alongside the original trio. The director expressed deep sadness over the loss, stating that some stories remain incomplete but Dharmendra will always live in memories. Sharma last met the actor a couple of months ago, when Dharmendra blessed him and expressed his desire to make good films.

Sequel Plans and Final Meeting

Sharma revealed he last met Dharmendra a couple of months ago when visiting Bobby Deol. The veteran actor, sitting outside, greeted him warmly and inquired about his projects. Dharmendra called him 'Chotu' and asked what he was working on. Sharma told him about plans for an action film with Utkarsh, followed by Apne 2 and Gadar 3. Dharmendra encouraged him to create a good story and expressed his desire to make quality films. He blessed Sharma during that meeting, a moment the filmmaker now cherishes as their final conversation together before the actor's passing.
