Akon turns Mumbai into a 2000s party, Performs Chammak Challo and rolls through

2 min read

American music star Akon delivered an energetic concert in Mumbai on Sunday night, bringing back memories of the 2000s pop era. The Grammy-nominated artist performed a special setlist that included his collaboration Chammak Challo from the Bollywood film Ra One, originally sung for Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The crowd sang along enthusiastically to his global hits including Beautiful, Smack That, I Wanna Love You, Belly Dancer, Dangerous, Ghetto, and Blame on Me. In a unique move, Akon rolled across the audience inside a transparent bubble, creating a memorable visual moment. This appeared to be a playful response to an incident in Bengaluru the previous day where a fan accidentally pulled his pants during crowd-surfing. Despite the bubble, he also spent time meeting fans directly, taking pictures, shaking hands, and singing with attendees in the fan pit.

Performance Highlights and Fan Interaction

Akon opened by expressing his love for Mumbai and asking if the audience was ready to party. The concert featured numerous chart-topping tracks that transformed the venue into a massive dance floor. The most talked-about moment came when he travelled across the crowd inside a giant transparent bubble, waving and smiling at fans below. This creative approach followed an incident in Bengaluru where an overexcited fan had accidentally pulled down his pants while crowd-surfing. Beyond the bubble, Akon ensured personal connection by moving through the fan pit, clicking photographs, shaking hands with attendees, and singing alongside them, creating lasting memories for those who had waited years to see him perform live in India.
