Actor Yami Gautam has expressed her support for Deepika Padukone's request for an 8-hour workday in the film industry. Speaking to Times Now News, Yami acknowledged that while the demand is understandable, the film industry operates differently from other professions with fixed working hours. She emphasized that every mother, whether working or a homemaker, does everything possible for her child. Deepika recently exited two major films, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit and Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2, after her request for an eight-hour shift was reportedly not accommodated. The actor wanted to limit her working hours to spend more time with her daughter, Dua. This development has sparked widespread discussion in the film industry, with various actors and professionals sharing their perspectives on work-life balance and the unique demands of film production schedules.
Film Industry Has Different Work Structure
Yami Gautam explained that while many professions have strict time limits, the film industry functions differently. She noted that film production involves multiple variables including shooting locations, permissions, and coordination among numerous actors and technicians. According to Yami, implementing a fixed time limit is quite subjective and depends on mutual understanding and collaboration between the actor, producer, and director. She mentioned that the way she chooses her scripts is completely separate from her personal life. Yami stressed that regardless of being employed or a stay-at-home parent, every mother is unique, and no one holds more importance to a mother than her child.
