Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi held a press conference on Wednesday where he accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of electoral manipulation in the Haryana elections. He claimed a Brazilian model's photograph appeared 22 times across polling booths under different names such as Seema, Sweety, Saraswati, Rashmi, and Vilma. Gandhi described this as a "centralised operation" to manipulate the 2024 Haryana assembly election results. The allegation gained national attention, but confusion arose when social media users mistakenly identified the woman as Larissa Bonesi, rumoured girlfriend of filmmaker Aryan Khan. Indians flooded her Instagram posts with comments and messages supporting Gandhi. However, another Brazilian model named Larissa Nery claimed to be the actual woman in Gandhi's presentation. Bonesi, who has worked in India for over a decade in films, has not responded to the mistaken identity controversy.

Mistaken Identity Leads to Social Media Confusion
After Gandhi's claims went viral, confused social media users mistakenly identified the unnamed woman as Larissa Bonesi, a 31-year-old Brazilian model and actor linked romantically to Aryan Khan. Indians bombarded her Instagram posts with hundreds of comments featuring Rahul Gandhi's pictures and messages. One comment reading "You are famous in India" received almost 200 likes by Thursday afternoon. Others congratulated her on "Indian citizenship" and called her a "BJP voter from Brazil." Bonesi has not responded to the confusion. Meanwhile, another Brazilian model named Larissa Nery posted screenshots and a video claiming she is the actual woman whose photograph Gandhi displayed during his press conference.
