Kaantha trailer-‘King of Acting’ Dulquer Salmaan will do everything to maintain

The trailer for Kaantha, directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, was released on Tuesday evening. The film features Dulquer Salmaan, Samuthirakani, and Bhagyashri Borse in lead roles. Set in 1950s Madras, the story revolves around a fierce clash between Chandran, known as the 'King of Acting', and the director who brought him fame. The narrative unfolds as a thriller showcasing an intense battle of egos that escalates from professional rivalry to violent confrontation. Jointly produced by Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati under Wayfarer Films and Spirit Media, the film explores themes of mentorship, ambition, and betrayal. Kaantha is scheduled for theatrical release on November 14 in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The movie was originally slated for September but was postponed to avoid clashing with another production.

Plot and Cast Details

Kaantha explores the troubled relationship between legendary Tamil director Ayya, played by Samuthirakani, and his protege Chandran, portrayed by Dulquer Salmaan. The conflict begins when Chandran renames Ayya's female-centric film from Shaantha to Kaantha, triggering an ego war. What starts as professional disagreement spirals into physical altercation as Chandran takes extreme measures to ensure things proceed his way. Spanish cinematographer Dani Sanchez-Lopez, who previously worked on Dulquer's Telugu debut Mahanati in 2018, handles the camera work. Music composer Jhanu Chanthar has already released songs titled Panimalare, Kanmani Nee, and Rage of Kaantha. Bhagyashri Borse completes the principal cast in this period thriller set in the vibrant world of cinema.
