The third season of Netflix's Delhi Crime is set to release later this month, introducing a powerful new antagonist. Huma Qureshi plays Meena, also known as Badi didi, a trafficker in Delhi with few redeeming qualities. This marks a significant departure for the actor, who has spent nearly a decade and a half in the industry but never portrayed such a negative character. The season is structured as a direct face-off between Meena and DCP Vartika Chaturvedi, played by Shefali Shah, giving the villain almost equal stature to the protagonist. The makers pitched the dynamic as similar to Batman versus Joker. Directed by Tanuj Chopra, the show also features Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, Sayani Gupta, Mita Vashisht, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Kelly Dorji. Delhi Crime season 3 will be available on Netflix from 13 November.

A Dark Character Pitched as Batman vs Joker
Huma Qureshi describes her character Meena as exciting and dark, a role unlike any she has done before. When showrunners Tanuj Chopra and Apoorva Bakshi approached her, she immediately agreed because of her admiration for the franchise. Initially, she wondered if she would play a cop, especially after her righteous role as Rani Bharti in Maharani. However, the makers presented the season as Batman vs Joker, with Meena as the Joker to Shefali Shah's Batman. Huma emphasizes that as an actor, her job is not to judge the character. She hopes audiences will love her as the most hated woman in the show, acknowledging that Meena does horrible things she personally does not approve of or stand for as an individual.
