2 min read

Director Milap Zaveri recently hit back at a negative review of his film Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat on social media. The romantic drama, featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, has earned over ₹100 crore worldwide according to the makers. Despite its commercial success, the movie received mixed reactions, with several critics and viewers labeling it regressive and filled with cringe-worthy dialogue. A detailed negative review posted on Twitter on October 22 called the film an old-school cringe-fest with deafening background music and dialogue targeting front-row audiences. Nearly two weeks later, on a Tuesday, Zaveri responded by sharing the review and expressing gratitude that audiences disagreed with the critic's assessment. The film released on Diwali and found a niche audience across the country despite lukewarm critical reception. The cast also includes Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan.

Director Responds to Critical Review on Social Media

Milap Zaveri shared a negative review posted by Twitter user Nikhil Ram, adding his own response. The original review, published October 22, described Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat as a regressive film with loud background score and dialogue aimed at front benchers. While the reviewer appreciated the performances and music, the overall verdict was that the movie was forgettable except for its genuinely good songs. Zaveri responded almost two weeks later, stating he was grateful that audiences did not agree with the critic. He added heart and folded hands emojis to his tweet. The film opened during Diwali to mixed reviews but performed well commercially, attracting a dedicated audience nationwide despite critical skepticism.
