2 min read

Actor Celina Jaitly received significant relief after the Delhi High Court directed the Central government to provide effective legal representation to her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the UAE since September 2024. The court's order came after Celina filed a writ petition seeking help to bring her brother home. Vikrant, who has been living in the UAE since 2016 and working with Matiti Group, was detained over an alleged national security case. As the sole surviving immediate blood relative, Celina has been struggling with uncertainty and isolation for over a year. The court also urged authorities to establish contact between the siblings. The Ministry of External Affairs has been directed to file a detailed status report within four weeks, with the next hearing scheduled for December 4.

The Delhi High Court on Monday instructed the Central government to step in and assist Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the UAE since September 2024. Celina described the past year as a nightmare and expressed gratitude for the judgment. She highlighted how Indian soldiers stationed overseas are increasingly becoming targets as India's international presence grows. In her Instagram post, Celina wrote that after an arduous 14 months, she had finally reached the light at the end of a dark tunnel. She stated that her brother was illegally abducted and detained on September 6, 2024, and she has been unable to obtain information about his welfare or legal status since then.
