Kerala State Film Awards 2025 — what to know now

The 55th Kerala State Film Awards were announced on November 3, 2025, at Ramanilayam, Thrissur, by Minister for Culture and Films Saji Cherian. A seven-member jury headed by Prakash Raj selected the winners across various categories. Mammootty created history by winning the Best Actor award for the seventh time, breaking the previous record he shared with Mohanlal and Urvashi, who each have six wins. He received the honour for his performance in Bramayugam. Shamla Hamza won Best Actress for Feminichi Fathima, which also claimed Best Second Film and Best Debut Director. The survival drama Manjummel Boys dominated multiple technical categories and was named Best Film. Other notable winners included Soubin Shahir, Sidharth Bharathan, Lijomol Jose, and special jury mentions for Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, Jyothirmayi, and Darshana Rajendran. The awards celebrated excellence across acting, direction, technical craft, and cinema literature.

Mammootty's Historic Seventh Best Actor Win and Major Winners

Mammootty won his seventh Best Actor award for Bramayugam, surpassing the record of six wins held by Mohanlal and Urvashi. His previous wins include films like Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha, Vidheyan, Ponthan Mada, Kaazhcha, and Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. Shamla Hamza earned Best Actress for Feminichi Fathima. Chidambaram S Poduval won Best Director for Manjummel Boys, which was also declared Best Film. Special jury acting awards went to Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali for ARM and Kishkindha Kaandam, while Jyothirmayi and Darshana Rajendran received recognition for Bougainvillea and Paradise. Character artist honours went to Soubin Shahir, Sidharth Bharathan, and Lijomol Jose. Premalu was named Best Popular Film.
