Thousands of devotees from across Bihar and Jharkhand gathered at Bararari Ganga Ghat in Bhagalpur and Ajgaibi Nath Dham in Sultanganj to take holy dips in the Uttarvahini Ganga on Kartik Purnima. Pilgrims travelled from Purnia, Katihar, Navgachhia, Godda, Dumka and Banka districts to participate in this auspicious occasion. The day is considered highly sacred, and devotees believe that bathing in the Ganga on this day brings spiritual merit. Unmarried women observe a month-long fast and offer fruits, sweets and lit lamps to seek a good life partner. Head-shaving ceremonies for children were also performed at the ghats. Devotees carried Ganga water to temples to offer prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. District administration deployed heavy security forces, including SDRF teams and disaster management volunteers, to manage the large crowds and ensure safety throughout the event.

Heavy Security Arrangements and Rituals Performed

Considering the massive turnout of pilgrims, the district administration implemented strict security measures across the ghats and surrounding areas. Police forces were stationed at multiple points, and SDRF teams along with disaster management volunteers were positioned along the river to handle any emergencies. After taking the holy dip, devotees performed various rituals including offering donations and prayers. Many carried Ganga water back to nearby temples to worship Baba Bholenath and Mata Parvati, seeking blessings and fulfillment of their wishes. The sacred Mundan Sanskar ceremonies for young children were also conducted at the ghats. Men and women made charitable contributions as part of their religious observance on this special day.
