Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a 10-kilometer roadshow in Darbhanga on Tuesday, November 4. The event began from Lohiya Chowk and lasted approximately 60 minutes. During this time, he chanted 260 times 'Jai Shri Ram' and 70 times invoked Maa Janaki. Supporters showered flowers from a bulldozer as Yogi held a microphone, continuously raising slogans of Bharat Mata and Jai Shri Ram. Streets were decorated with saffron flags, and crowds chanted Yogi-Modi slogans. A young woman named Aastha rode a bullet motorcycle ahead of the procession, wearing saffron clothes and holding a BJP flag. Women performed aarti from rooftops while youth held posters declaring him their hero. Yogi urged voters to ensure NDA victory with greater majority, emphasizing that NDA means development and progress for Bihar.

Political Significance and Electoral Challenge in Darbhanga

Darbhanga is considered the political center of Mithilanchal with NDA holding 9 out of 10 assembly seats. BJP candidate Sanjay Sarawagi has won five consecutive times and briefly served as Land Revenue Minister. This election presents tougher competition as Jansuraaj fielded former IG RK Mishra, a Brahmin candidate with a clean image. The Plurals Party's Pushpam Priya is also contesting strongly. Sahni voters form a significant factor; previously with NDA, Mukesh Sahni now contests with Mahagathbandhan. VIP's Umesh Sahni represents the alliance here. The constituency has substantial Brahmin, Muslim, Kayastha, and Vaishya populations, with BJP traditionally receiving approximately 50 percent votes.
