Today, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a 35% job reservation for women who are permanent residents of Bihar. From July 2025, this quota applies only to women domiciled in the state, aiming to empower local women. Until now, the reservation was for women candidates generally. Next, the government plans to provide 125 units of free electricity to domestic consumers and launch welfare schemes for farmers, youth, and workers. Nitish Kumar also introduced the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Package 2025 to attract investments above ₹100 crore, offering free land and tax benefits to create jobs. These moves come ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for late 2025, focusing on women’s empowerment and economic growth. (Updated 28 Aug 2025, 19:08 IST; source: link)
