Bihar Police arrested nine people, including four women posing as brides, for running a fake marriage racket in West Champaran district on [28 [August 2025. The gang lured victims into sham marriages and then stole valuables, jewellery, and cash. The women, who were already married, stayed briefly with victims' families to create a false impression of real marriages. Police seized vehicles and mobile phones during raids near Bettiah and Bagaha. The accused are in custody as investigations continue. Victims suffered financial loss and social stigma.
