The railway track between Sugauli and Raxaul, covering 26 km, is being upgraded. The work costs about ₹4 crore and will finish by October end. Old rails and sleepers are being replaced with new, stronger ones. The track bed is also cleaned and refilled with fresh ballast. Currently, trains run at a maximum speed of 100 km/h here. After the upgrade, trains can run at 110 to 120 km/h. This will reduce travel time and offer a safer, smoother journey. Passengers and tourists going to Nepal will benefit from faster trains. The project is part of Indian Railways' efforts to modernize and improve safety across the network. (Updated 28 Aug 2025, 02:35 IST; source: link)
