Justice P.B. Bajanthri has been appointed as the acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court from 27 Aug 2025. This follows Justice Vipul M. Pancholi's elevation to the Supreme Court. Pancholi is expected to take oath as Supreme Court judge on 29 Aug 2025. All Patna High Court cases will now be handled under Justice Bajanthri's name. A farewell ceremony for Justice Pancholi will be held on 28 Aug 2025 at the High Court. Justice Pancholi will serve in the Supreme Court until his retirement at age 65, with a long tenure expected. Justice Bajanthri is the senior-most judge at Patna High Court and has served in Karnataka and Punjab and Haryana High Courts before joining Patna High Court in 2021.
