Cyber criminals hacked UIDAI's Aadhaar system using an interstate network. The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) arrested three hackers in Madhepura, Bihar. They worked with authorized Aadhaar operators in Rajasthan to tamper with the software. The criminals created 39 websites to store stolen biometric data. The main accused, Rampravesh, learned to make fake UCL Aadhaar portals using YouTube and Google. He bought UCL source code to create 6-7 fake websites. The EOU found that Rampravesh had fake fingerprints of over 40 Rajasthan operators. He used illegal Aadhaar software (ECMP) to modify people's biometric data. The EOU is investigating the network in other states and Bihar districts. To protect your Aadhaar data, regularly check your Aadhaar authentication history for any suspicious activity.
