The 2025 BWF World Championships began on August 25 at the Adidas Arena in Paris, featuring top Indian badminton players including Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, PV Sindhu, and the doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. Lakshya Sen faced world number one Shi Yuqi in the first round, while other Indian doubles pairs Priya/Shruti, Hariharan/Ruban, and Swetparna/Rutaparna also competed on the opening day. The tournament runs through August 31 and is available for live streaming on the BWF YouTube channel, as there is no telecast in India. Indian mixed doubles pairs Kapila/Crasto and Kapoor/Ruthvika also participated, with some receiving byes in the first round. The event marks a key opportunity for Indian shuttlers to showcase their form on the world stage following last year’s Olympics in Paris. (Updated 25 Aug 2025, 12:53 IST; source: link)
