Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka is on his first official three-day visit to India, arriving in New Delhi on Sunday with his spouse and a high-level delegation including the Health and Medical Services Minister. On Monday, he held bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hosted a lunch in his honour. Rabuka is also scheduled to deliver a lecture titled “Ocean of Peace” at the Indian Council of World Affairs, focusing on regional stability, India-Pacific ties, and maritime cooperation. Additionally, he will call on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The visit follows President Murmu’s state visit to Fiji in August 2024 and builds on the momentum from the 6th round of Foreign Office Consultations held in Suva in July 2025, where both countries reviewed cooperation in health, education, trade, renewable energy, climate change, and cultural exchange. The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance India’s Act East and Indo-Pacific outreach while reinforcing historical and people-to-people links between India and Fiji.
