Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 will be celebrated on 27 August. The festival lasts for 10 days, ending on Ananta Chaturdashi with the immersion of Lord Ganesha's idol. It marks the visit of Lord Ganesha to his devotees, not his birth. The festival began in Maharashtra and was popularised nationwide by Lokmanya Tilak during India's freedom struggle. Devotees install clay idols of Ganesha at home or in public places, worship him with chants like “Ganpati Bappa Morya,” and offer his favourite sweet, modak. The idol should face north or east for positive energy. Ganesh Chaturthi brings people together in faith and unity across India. To celebrate, install the idol with devotion and follow daily prayers until immersion. (Updated 28 Aug 2025, 15:25 IST; source: link)
