Former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who resigned 42 days ago, has moved into the Delhi farmhouse of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Singh Chautala in Chhatarpur. Dhankhar shares a longstanding political and familial relationship with the Chautala family, dating back nearly 40 years to when former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal, Abhay Chautala's grandfather, mentored him. Dhankhar has often credited Devi Lal for shaping his political career, recalling how Devi Lal encouraged him to enter politics and supported his election to the Lok Sabha. Despite holding the vice-presidential office, Dhankhar maintained close ties with the Chautala family, attending the funeral of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and receiving their support during personal hardships. Abhay Chautala stated that the farmhouse is Dhankhar's home and he can stay there until his official residence is allotted. This move reflects the deep personal and political bonds between Dhankhar and the Chautala family. (Updated 2 Sep 2025, 05:25 IST; source: link)
