Nagaland University started a project on 1 Sep 2025 to create written grammar for 18 Naga languages. The project aims to include grammar in school textbooks from Class 5 to 12. It will cover parts of speech, tense, and sentence structures. The grammar will be added to textbooks with prose and poetry. Teacher training programs will help introduce grammar in classrooms. Dr. Mimi Kevichüsa Ezung leads the project. The 18 languages include Ao, Chang, Konyak, Lotha, and Tenyidie. This effort will preserve Naga linguistic heritage and culture.
