Twenty-eight students from Tamil Nadu government schools have secured admission to IIT Madras through the IIT4Everyone (Anaivarukkum IIT) initiative. This scheme, launched in April 2023 by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, aims to help economically weaker students access higher education at IIT Madras. The students joined Bachelor of Science programmes in Data Science and Electronic Systems in the May 2025 admission cycle. The initiative includes sensitisation programmes in government schools and covers exam fees for qualifying tests. School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi congratulated the students and highlighted the quality of education in state-run schools. This effort is part of a larger push to support underprivileged students in Tamil Nadu. (Updated 29 Aug 2025, 20:25 IST; source: link)
