Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League on 27 Aug 2025. He played 16 seasons and took 187 wickets in 221 matches. Ashwin won two IPL titles with Chennai Super Kings and was known for his smart bowling. Former selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth said Ashwin could have played two more years but respects his decision. Ashwin plans to play in other franchise leagues outside India. He thanked the IPL, BCCI, and all teams for the memories. Ashwin’s wife also expressed support for his new journey.
