On 27 Aug 2025, the Indian government approved the bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gave permission to submit the formal bid and sign the Host Collaboration Agreement. Ahmedabad is chosen for its world-class sports facilities, including the Narendra Modi Stadium, the largest cricket stadium in the world. The Games will mark the 100th anniversary of the Commonwealth Games and include sports like wrestling, shooting, kabaddi, and kho. If selected, the event will boost tourism, create jobs, and inspire young athletes. The final decision on the host city will be made in November 2025.
