Nikki Bhati, a 28-year-old woman from Greater Noida, reportedly told doctors before her death that her burns were caused by a cooking cylinder blast, contradicting her family's claims of dowry harassment and murder. The hospital's medico-legal certificate confirmed her statement, but police found no evidence of a cylinder blast, instead recovering an empty thinner bottle and a lighter from the house. Kasna SHO Dharmendra Shukla suggested Nikki may have concealed the truth to protect family members, possibly due to concerns for her sister, who is married into the same family. Nikki died en route to Safdarjung Hospital after being brought in critical condition. Her sister Kanchan found her on fire and recorded the incident but did not immediately report it to police. A case was filed nearly 20 hours after Nikki's death against her husband Vipin Bhati, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law, all of whom have been arrested. The Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission has met with Nikki's family, demanded a fair investigation, and extended financial support for Nikki's son and Kanchan's children until they reach adulthood.
