England fast bowler Mark Wood aims to return to cricket with Durham in September. He has been out since February due to a knee injury. Wood hoped to play against India but had a setback when his knee swelled again. He plans to play one or two County Championship matches for Durham against Essex, Worcestershire, and Yorkshire. Wood wants to regain fitness before the Ashes series starting on 21 November in Perth, Australia. England needs his fast bowling to compete in the Ashes. Wood will attend a bowling camp in Loughborough and then travel early to Perth to prepare. He has taken 119 wickets in 37 Tests and is one of England's fastest bowlers. His return is important as England tries to win the Ashes for the first time since 2015. (Updated 27 Aug 2025, 20:09 IST; source: link)
