England fast bowler Mark Wood plans to return to cricket with Durham in September. He has been out since February due to a knee injury. Wood missed the last India Test because his knee swelled again after bowling at Lord’s. He wants to play one or two County Championship games to prove his fitness before the Ashes series in Australia. The Ashes will start on 21 November in Perth. Wood spoke about preparing with England coach Brendon McCullum, including a bowling camp in Loughborough and arriving early in Perth to get used to conditions. Wood took 17 wickets in the 2021/22 Ashes and hopes to help England win the urn back from Australia for the first time since 2015. (Updated 27 Aug 2025, 18:22 IST; source: link)
