Iran Allows IAEA Inspectors Back Amid Nuclear Talks Uncertainty
Saralnama

Today, IAEA nuclear inspectors returned to Iran to supervise a fuel swap at the Bushehr nuclear plant. This visit was approved by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. However, Iran said this does not mean full cooperation with the IAEA has resumed. No final agreement has been made yet between Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog. The return of inspectors follows a pause after Iran stopped inspections in July due to US and Israeli attacks on its nuclear sites. Some Iranian lawmakers criticized the decision, calling it risky. European countries want Iran to fully cooperate and be transparent about its uranium stockpiles before they agree to lift sanctions. Iran has refused direct talks with the US. The IAEA’s current mission is limited and may not stop possible UN sanctions from returning soon. (Updated 27 Aug 2025, 18:11 IST; source: link)
