Ravichandran Ashwin retired from the Indian Premier League on 27 Aug 2025 after playing 16 seasons. He started his IPL career in 2009 with Chennai Super Kings, taking his first wicket by dismissing Kumar Sangakkara. Over 221 matches, Ashwin took 187 wickets and helped CSK win IPL titles in 2010 and 2011. He also played for Rising Pune Supergiant, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals. Ashwin's last IPL wicket was of young player Vaibhav Suryavanshi in 2025. He is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in IPL history. Ashwin thanked the IPL, BCCI, and all teams for their support.
