RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat stated that the organisation's vision of a "Hindu Rashtra" is not against or exclusive of any community. Speaking at the opening of a three-day centenary lecture series, he said the concept should not be understood through the Western nation-state lens and is not linked to politics or power. Bhagwat emphasized that Hindu Rashtra is egalitarian, offering equal justice without discrimination based on religion or language. He described all residents of India as Hindus due to shared ancestry and culture, asserting that unity does not require uniformity. He urged acceptance of diversity and respect for different faiths and practices within Hindu traditions. Bhagwat also highlighted the RSS's independent identity from the BJP-led government, noting that while the Sangh discusses ideology and values, it does not impose its views on others. The RSS, though influential, is not directly involved in electoral politics. These remarks were part of reflections on India's history, nationalism, and the Sangh's future role during the centenary event in New Delhi. (Updated 27 Aug 2025, 14:38 IST; source: link)
