Indian off-spinner R Ashwin has retired from the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. He played his last season with Chennai Super Kings and took seven wickets in nine games. Ashwin started his IPL career in 2009 with the same team. He played for several franchises and captained Punjab Kings. He won the IPL twice with Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and 2011. Ashwin took 187 wickets in 221 IPL matches at an average of 30.22. He thanked the IPL, BCCI, and all teams for the memories. He said he will now explore playing in other cricket leagues around the world. Ashwin had already retired from international cricket in December 2024.
