From 27 Aug 2025, the US will charge 50% tariffs on many Indian goods. Around 30% of Indian exports to the US, worth $27.6 billion, are exempt. These include pharmaceuticals, electronics, and refined petroleum products. Nearly half of the exports, worth $87.3 billion, will face the new tariffs. Sectors hit include textiles, gems, seafood, leather, steel, and handicrafts. Some auto parts will have a 25% tariff. The tariffs target goods entering the US after 9 am IST on 27 Aug. Indian exporters face challenges but the government plans support and market diversification. Prime Minister Modi said India will stand strong despite these trade pressures.
