Vijay Shankar will leave Tamil Nadu to play for Tripura in the 2025 domestic cricket season. The 34-year-old all-rounder got a no-objection certificate from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. He has played 70 first-class matches, scoring 3,702 runs and taking 43 wickets. Shankar led Tamil Nadu to three trophies, including the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Recently, he was dropped from some Tamil Nadu matches, prompting his move. Tamil Nadu coach M. Senthilnathan said Shankar’s contributions were valuable and wished him well. This move opens chances for younger Tamil Nadu players. Hanuma Vihari, another experienced player, also joined Tripura recently.
