Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on 25 Aug 2025 that he may meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Turkey, Gulf States, or Europe. He wants direct talks to stop the war in Ukraine. Zelenskyy said meetings with Turkey, Gulf States, and European countries will happen this week to prepare for talks. Ukraine’s chief of staff is in Qatar to meet officials. Zelenskyy said talks depend on pressure from world leaders, especially the United States, to push Russia. He added Russia is avoiding real negotiations and only strong sanctions and tariffs can change this. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said no meeting agenda is set yet.
