A 16-year-old Syrian teen received an 18-month suspended sentence in Berlin for helping plan a failed attack on Taylor Swift's Vienna concert in August 2024. When he was 14, he translated bomb-making instructions and connected the attacker with an Islamic State member. The attack led to the cancellation of Swift's three shows at Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium. The teen confessed fully and avoided jail under juvenile law. Austrian police detained three other teenage suspects. The main suspect, a 20-year-old Austrian, was arrested before the concerts after a CIA tip-off. He had also planned an earlier attack in Dubai. Taylor Swift called the cancellations "devastating" but thanked authorities for preventing loss of life. (Updated 26 Aug 2025, 23:17 IST; source: link)
