Sting is being sued by his former Police bandmates Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland. They filed a High Court case in the UK over unpaid royalties from the 1983 hit song Every Breath You Take. Sting, whose real name is Gordon Matthew Sumner, earns about £550,000 yearly from the song. Summers and Copeland say they were not given co-writing credits and missed millions in royalties. The Police band formed in 1977 and broke up in 1984 after five albums. They briefly reunited for a world tour in 2007-08. The song won Grammy awards and remains very popular. The legal dispute continues as lawyers failed to settle outside court. (Updated 26 Aug 2025, 16:46 IST; source: link)
