Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy visited Osmania University in Hyderabad on August 25, 2025, marking the first visit by a sitting CM in 20 years. He inaugurated two new hostels, Dundubhi and Bhima, built at a cost of ₹80 crore to accommodate 1,200 students, and launched construction of two additional hostels supported by the Tribal Welfare Department. He also initiated work on a digital library and reading room. Addressing students and staff, Revanth Reddy emphasized the university's historical and ideological significance to Telangana and pledged full support for its development, instructing the formation of a committee to plan improvements. The visit saw heavy police security and the detention of some student leaders, which drew criticism from opposition and social media. Revanth Reddy announced he would return in December for a meeting at the Arts College without police presence. He also launched two fellowships for Ph.D. and postgraduate students sponsored by Singareni Collieries Company Limited and HMDA-MAUD. The university, over 100 years old, has produced notable leaders and revolutionaries and is seen as integral to Telangana's identity. (Updated 25 Aug 2025, 15:09 IST; source: link)
