Seed cycling is a nutritional practice where women consume specific seeds during the two phases of their menstrual cycle to support hormone balance. During the follicular phase (days 1–14), flax and pumpkin seeds are eaten, while sesame and sunflower seeds are consumed in the luteal phase (days 15–28). Flax seeds contain lignans that may regulate estrogen, pumpkin seeds provide zinc for progesterone production, sesame seeds help block excess estrogen, and sunflower seeds supply vitamin E and selenium to support hormones. Although some women report benefits such as reduced PMS symptoms, improved mood, and better cycle regularity, medical experts note there is no strong scientific evidence that seed cycling directly regulates menstrual cycles. However, the seeds are nutrient-dense and beneficial for reproductive health. Experts recommend focusing on overall nutrition, including iron, magnesium, omega-3s, B vitamins, probiotics, fiber, and hydration. Seed cycling involves grinding seeds for better absorption and adding them to daily meals. Women are advised to consult a doctor before using seed cycling for hormonal issues.
