Trump Appoints Sergio Gor As US Ambassador To India And Special Envoy
Saralnama

US President Donald Trump has appointed Sergio Gor, currently director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, as the next US ambassador to India and special envoy for South and Central Asian affairs. Gor, a close aide and longtime Trump loyalist, will succeed Eric Garcetti after Senate confirmation. Trump announced the nomination on his social media platform Truth Social, praising Gor’s role in hiring nearly 4,000 'America First Patriots' across federal departments and calling him a trusted friend who will advance his agenda in the populous South Asian region. Gor has been involved in Trump’s presidential campaigns, co-founded Winning Team Publishing with Donald Trump Jr., and led a major Super PAC supporting Trump. Since Garcetti’s departure in January 2025, the US Embassy in India has been led by interim Charge d’Affaires Jorgan K Andrews. Gor’s appointment comes amid complex US-India relations, including recent tariff disputes. Born in Tashkent in 1986, Gor studied at George Washington University and has worked with several US politicians before joining the Trump administration. (Updated 23 Aug 2025, 06:03 IST; source: link)
