In Jhansi’s Kishorpura village, the dismembered body of Rachna Yadav, a widow from Tikamgarh, was found in a well and nearby river, leading to the arrest of Sanjay Patel, a former village pradhan, and his nephew Sandeep Patel. The victim was strangled on August 8 after pressuring Patel for marriage, and her body was cut into seven parts to conceal the crime. A third accomplice, Pradeep Ahirwar, remains at large. The discovery began on August 13 when a farmer noticed a foul odor from a well, prompting police to recover body parts from the well and the Lakheri river. Over 100 villagers were questioned, more than 200 CCTV cameras reviewed, and thousands of posters distributed before the victim was identified by her brother. Police confirmed the crime scene’s materials matched local soil and bricks. Authorities have announced rewards of Rs 50,000 for the investigative team and Rs 25,000 for information leading to the arrest of the absconding suspect. The investigation is ongoing with multiple police teams involved. (Updated 22 Aug 2025, 10:44 IST; source: link)
