Rohit Sharma is set to make a surprise return to competitive cricket by playing for India A in an unofficial ODI series against Australia A starting September 30, 2025, ahead of the official ODI series between India and Australia scheduled for October 19. Sharma, who retired from Test cricket earlier this year, has been training intensively to regain match fitness after a break since the IPL 2025 ended in June. His last international appearance was in the Champions Trophy final in March 2025. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) deferred other series in August, giving players rest after a long Test series against England.
