The Rashtriya Lok Morcha, a Bihar ally of the BJP, is facing internal turmoil after seven senior leaders resigned from the party. The mass exodus followed party chief Upendra Kushwaha's decision to nominate his son, Deepak Prakash, for a ministerial post despite him being neither an MLA nor an MLC. The RLM had won four out of six seats it contested in the recent Bihar Assembly elections as part of the NDA coalition, which secured 202 of the state's 243 seats. The resigning leaders have accused Kushwaha of abandoning socialist principles and promoting dynastic politics within the party. Critics argue that Kushwaha, who once positioned himself as a potential successor to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is now focused on advancing his family's political interests after his party's poor performance in the 2020 Assembly polls.

Leaders Accuse Party Chief of Favouring Family Over Workers
Jitendra Nath, who served as the RLM's official number two before resigning, stated he had worked with Kushwaha for nine years. He claimed that after the party's failure in the 2020 Assembly polls, Kushwaha became uncertain about its future and turned to promoting his family instead. Nath called the appointment of Prakash, a non-legislator, as a minister blatant favouritism. Among those who quit were state president Mahendra Kushwaha, state general secretary Rahul Kumar, and district-level leaders from Nalanda, Jamui, Lakhisarai, and Shekhpura. They described the party chief as a fallen pillar of socialist politics who had forgotten core ideological values while succumbing to dynastic politics.
